Background About My Name

My legal name- David Yi Kai Yang- has a meaning behind it. At first, my mom researched the most popular boy names, which led to the decision of “David” through multiple factors. My parents named me in the week that I was born. For the part “Yi Kai” in my name, it was my dad who decided that part. I believe that my name is very suitable for myself.
My first name, David, has deep biblical roots and its popularity derives from King David, who was the second king of ancient Israel. This name originated from the Hebrew word “dod”, and is very popular in North America. The name David also means “beloved”, or “beloved uncle”, from the word “dod”. In addition, this name was ranked at the top of the list of rich boy names. Thus, my parents chose David as my first name.

The second part of my name, Yi Kai, is the PinYin of Chinese Characters “益恺”. Yi is one of the names of a branch in our family tree. It was the name for that current generation in the family. The name Kai means joyful, kind, and music. I believe it is very suitable as I enjoy playing and listening to music- I like to play the violin and piano. As such, I believe the “Yi Kai” part of my name is very suitable.
